Mastering the Politics of UX
A Five-Week Deep Dive into
Strategic UX Leadership
The internal UX organization operates at the center of the corporation, interacting and networking with every other department. This central role requires UX designers and managers to navigate competing priorities and political challenges unlike those experienced by any other functional area. Your responsibilities extend beyond designing great experiences; your job is to inspire your colleagues and align them to the UX mission.

In this webinar, you will learn strategies to help you pilot your career through the political challenges and opportunities that you are likely facing now or will face sometime in the future.
How it Works
No matter how talented you are at experience design, the politics of UX can still defeat you.

In this webinar, I’ll share the leadership strategies I’ve developed over more than 40 years as an in-house UX researcher, analyst, designer, consultant, and manager. My goal is for you to walk away feeling empowered and confident in navigating even the toughest political challenges you might face.

Before each weekly class, I'll invite you to send me your stories — both the challenges and the victories—from working with colleagues, managers, and executives. I’ll cover as many of them as possible during our 90-minute sessions. For those we can't get to live, I’ll record video responses and post them on my YouTube channel.

Throughout my career, I’ve likely encountered many of the political hurdles you're facing now. I’m excited to share my successes (and failures) with you—and to learn from your experiences too.

How to discover a breakthrough UX project to activate your entire organization
How to build enthusiasm for UX and inspire your colleagues to rally behind your vision.

About me
John Scott Bowie

Over the course of my forty-year career as a UX researcher, designer, engineer, teacher, and manager, I’ve successfully navigated the internal politics of several organizations ranging from Fortune 50 corporations and global professional service firms to boutique tech companies—spanning a wide array of industries.
I’ve led in-house experience and content design teams tasked with delivering products and services for consumers, businesses, employees, and even children.
Now, as the founder of Colorado Design Labs, I’m committed to developing practical and innovative approaches to designing human-product systems—reducing or removing the burdens technology places on people—and in doing so, helping products and services realize their full potential.
